Our most viewed video is also one of the most complex songs by the Beatles, as well as one of the greatest examples of psychedelic rock. In fact, its video, along with Penny Lane, is considered by the MoMA in NY as the «most influential of late 60's»…

The Beatles recorded Strawberry Fields Forever in late 1966 to include it in the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. However, it was released as a double A-side single along with Penny Lane. Both Strawberry Fields Forever by Lennon and Penny Lane by McCartney express the theme of nostalgia for their childhood in Liverpool. Moreover, even though they refer to real places, the two songs also contain strong surreal and psychedelic connotations typical of the era.

Strawberry Fields Forever is one of the most complex songs in the Beatles' entire production. It took 55 hours of studio work, resulting in several versions of the same song. There was a lighter version that better evoked the carefree serenity of childhood and a darker version that reflected the uneasiness of maturity. The two versions were skillfully merged in the final mix by George Martin, despite being recorded at different speeds and pitches. This was something unimaginable at the time, given the equipment available. John Lennon's genius, the reversed percussion, Paul's mellotron intro, George's swarmandal, and much more make Strawberry Fields Forever a masterpiece of extraordinary beauty and unmatched expressive power.

In this video, we have tried to capture the melancholic and almost surreal atmosphere of the original, without neglecting our usual recording footage.

Recorded and mixed by Massimo Gerini.
Video by Brizio Romagnoli.

LYRICS:

Let me take you down
'Cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hungabout
Strawberry Fields forever

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It's getting hard to be someone
But it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me

Let me take you down
'Cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hungabout
Strawberry Fields forever

No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you can't, you know, tune in
But it's all right
That is I think it's not too bad

Let me take you down
'Cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hungabout
Strawberry Fields forever

Always, no sometimes, think it's me
But you know I know when it's a dream
I think a "no", I mean a "yes"
But it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree

Let me take you down
'Cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever
Strawberry Fields forever
Strawberry Fields forever

Strawberry Fields Forever "Isolated drums & percussion"

Including reversed parts

Strawberry Fields Forever is a song by The Beatles, written by John Lennon, and released as a Double A-side single on 13 February 1967, alongside Penny Lane written by Paul McCartney. Both songs are credited to Lennon/McCartney and draw inspiration from the childhood locales of the authors in Liverpool.

The song stands out as one of the most complex in the entire Beatles' repertoire. It required 55 studio hours and several versions, two of which were artfully combined in the final mix by producer George Martin, despite being recorded at different speeds and pitches.

Additionally, the song incorporates reversed sounds (in this case, percussion), a technique pioneered by the Beatles in the song Rain.
