Something

Beatles cover by The Ladders

Published on 3 May 2018 on Youtube, Facebook and Vimeo
Taking advantage of a break during the White Album recordings, George Harrison brings forth his masterpiece and finally manages to appear on the A-side of a Beatles single, replacing his Lennon/McCartney counterparts…

John considers it the best song on Abbey Road. For Paul, it's Harrison's best song ever. Even Frank Sinatra called it «The greatest love song of the past 50 years». Thanks to its enchanting melody and magnificent lyrics. When asked if Something was written with his wife Pattie in mind, George replied, «Well, actually, when I was writing that song, in my mind I was thinking of Ray Charles!»

With over 150 different versions, Something is (after Yesterday) the Beatles' song with the most cover versions. Among the numerous artists who have reinterpreted it are Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Joe Cocker, Smokey Robinson, James Brown, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles himself.

The promotional video was shot shortly after the band's breakup. In fact, each of the Beatles is shown individually in different times and places. However, it manages to give the song tremendous visibility and confirms George Harrison as a great songwriter capable of astonishing the world shortly after with the first triple album in history released by a solo artist. We're talking about All Things Must Pass.

For our video, we wanted to take advantage of the autumn colors of the beautiful beech forest of Canfaito, without neglecting our usual footage during studio recordings.

A special thanks also goes to our friend Ennio Mircoli, his guitars, and to Roberta and Paola for the usual shots “taken under threat” ;)

LYRICS:

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around and it may show
I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how
